Akasya Kape is a Melbourne coffee brand founded by sisters Felis and Inday Sarcepuedes. They bring Philippine-origin coffee to Melbourne, working with Kalsada Coffee in the Philippines and Core Roasters here in Naarm/Melbourne. The brand’s name combines the Filipino words for “acacia tree” and “coffee”, facilitating community gathering and connection.
I worked as their designer for four years. I built the visual identity, packaging, event branding, and, most recently, their Squarespace website. The brand work has since wrapped up, but I still lend a hand at their events, most recently behind the camera.
The new Akasya Kape website is now live at akasyakape.com.au. I designed and built it on a customised Squarespace template, shaped around the brand’s story and where the coffee comes from, with pages for Our Story, The Origins and the product range.
As the business evolved, Akasya Kape simplified its identity to the logotype alone, and the website was designed around that.
In 2024, I created the event branding for Akasya Kape’s screening of Ma’am Tere at Thornbury Picture House. That covered social posts and stories, digital banners for Humanitix, and poster templates for partner coffee brands in Naarm/Melbourne, Gadigal/Sydney, and Meanjin/Brisbane. The night ended with a Q&A with LA-based director Paul Barreto and Tere Domine herself.
This included designing social media posts, stories, digital banners for Humatix, and poster templates for coffee brand collaborators across Melbourne/Naarm, Sydney/Gadigal, and Brisbane/Meanjin.
In 2026, I photographed and filmed a private event that brought together Akasya Kape and Panaderia Serai. Felis gave the Panaderia crew a talk on Filipino coffee, followed by a screening of Ma’am Tere and a cupping session led by Michael of Core Roasters.

Maysie designed our branding from the concept stage and beyond. Communicating ideas for our design needs always felt collaborative. She always had our ethos in mind.
